Megawatt (MW) Westinghouse AP1000 Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and would be added to
the existing 1,000 MW PWR. Upon completion the combined V.C. Summer plant will be capable of
generating 3,200 MW of emission-free electricity.
Cliffside Modernization Project, Duke Energy, Cliffside, NC, $2.8B, July 2007-November 2011
An EPCS project to build a new 800-megawatt supercritical coal-fired electric generating plant and
add a flue gas desulfurization (FGD) system to Duke’s existing Cliffside Steam Station in Rutherford
